Epoxy Floor Coatings in St. Charles & Greater St. Louis

Epoxy is the workhorse of commercial and industrial flooring. It is what goes down in manufacturing plants, commercial kitchens, warehouses, veterinary clinics and boarding kennels, laboratories, locker rooms, and service bays — anywhere a concrete slab has to survive forklifts, daily wash-downs, standing chemicals, or a shift that never really stops.

What makes it that adaptable is that epoxy is a family of systems rather than a single product. Every one of them starts with the same chemistry underneath — 100% solids, bonding beyond 400 psi, 11,600 psi compressive, building real thickness in a single pass. What changes is what goes over it: decorative chip, quartz, silica sand, or a straight pigmented topcoat. That is where the range comes from, and it is why the specification follows the room rather than the other way around.

How the System is Built

Every installation begins with our 26-point inspection — moisture testing, detection of existing sealers and contamination, and full crack and joint mapping — so the system is specified for the slab in front of us rather than assumed. The floor is then diamond-ground to the profile the coating requires for a true mechanical bond, and cracks and spalls are repaired with structural fillers rated for movement. Nothing goes down until the slab tests within the manufacturer's limits for moisture and cure.

Built for floors that get cleaned hard. The urethane topcoat is the most abrasion-resistant surface in the line and shrugs off hot water, caustics, and thermal swing, so it holds up where a kitchen or a kennel gets hosed down daily. Satin finish with a light, consistent texture.

Two full broadcasts of colored quartz instead of one, locked under a clear topcoat. That doubles the body underfoot and gives a floor that stays sure when it is wet, which is what wash-down rooms, boarding runs, and locker rooms need. Quartz is harder than chip and takes the abuse to match.

The industry standard for work zones. A single broadcast of silica sand builds a 1/16-inch slip-resistant surface, then a pigmented polyaspartic locks the whole thing down and adds UV and chemical resistance. Made for tool drops, dragged pallets, and tire traffic.

Two layers, no broadcast, maximum film. This is the one for eroded concrete that needs rebuilding more than it needs decorating, and it restores a beaten slab to a hard high-gloss surface that sweeps and scrubs easily. Can be topcoated further where chemical exposure calls for it.

Specified where the floor takes chemicals all day. The epoxy siloxane topcoat delivers the highest chemical resistance of any system here along with low odor and low VOC, which matters when you cannot shut a facility down to install it. Satin standard, gloss available.

Other Systems

These six cover most of what gets asked for, but the family runs deeper. Urethane cement for freezers, coolers, and slabs that take thermal shock. Troweled mortar systems that rebuild concrete eroded past the point of patching. Decorative pours for spaces where the floor is meant to be the first thing anyone notices. Different builds, same principle — the floor gets specified around the room.

Animal care facilities are worth calling out on their own, because the floor there is doing two jobs at once. The first is sanitation — kennels, exam rooms, grooming stations, stalls, and holding areas take urine, disinfectant, and standing water daily, and a continuous coating gives none of it anywhere to soak in. The second is footing, and that one changes species to species. A dog turning hard in a run and a horse coming off a wash rack need different texture than a cat ward or a small mammal enclosure does. Zoo and aquarium back-of-house is its own problem again: keeper corridors, night houses, and quarantine rooms get hosed constantly, take heavy carts and hoof traffic, and cannot go out of service for long. Texture, drainage, and how the coating meets the wall all get looked at when we walk the space, because a boarding run, a large-animal barn, and a clinic exam room are three different problems with three different answers.

Chip is integrally colored and UV stable — the color runs through the flake, so wear does not expose a different shade underneath. Quarter-inch, seventeen signature blends, four marble blends, custom on request. Solid colors are mixed from universal pigment packs in fourteen shades including the OSHA safety range. Blends hide the daily; solids show the intent. We bring samples and look at them in your light, because a floor that looks right under fluorescents can look entirely different under a skylight.

A solid reads as one continuous field, which is what makes anything laid over it register — striping, zones, walkway boundaries. Lighter shades stretch the light you have; darker ones settle a room. Worth choosing on-site, under the light the floor will live in.

Commonly asked Questions

How do we know which system is right for our space?
The walk-through answers it. Traffic, cleaning routine, drainage, temperature swings — those point to the build. We test the slab before quoting, so the spec and the price are based on what's actually there.

Can it handle daily cleaning and chemicals?
Yes — it's one of the main reasons these systems get specified. The floor is continuous with no seams or grout lines, and the topcoat is matched to what the space is cleaned with.

How much traffic can these take?
Heavy. Bond strength tests past 400 psi and compressive strength runs 11,600 psi on the cured system, with real film thickness where forklifts and pallet jacks are in play.
